Updated over 3 months ago

Interactive Walk-through and Video Tutorial

  • An interactive walk-through has been created to assist in using the Grievance module.

  • A Video tutorial has been created for better understanding of how to utilize the Grievance module in MyNATCA.

View Grievances

  1. Click on "Grievances" from the left menu.

  2. The My Grievances tab is selected by default and displays any current and past grievances you have filed or where you are listed as a grievant.

Grievance Permissions

Much like all other aspects of MyNATCA, the ability to view, create, and modify grievances is controlled by permissions. Permissions can be configured for other teams and positions in addition to the basic permissions described below.

Step by Step Guide

Creating a New Grievance

To create a grievance, click the green button called Create New Grievance.

Grievant

The Grievant search works the same as the Member Search throughout the system. Search by all or part of the last name...

Entering:

dos

Will return members like: Ashley Doster, Jason Doss, William Doss

or all or part of the first name with a space then all or part of the last name.

Entering:

j dos

Will return the full names of: James Dosh, Jason Doss, Justin Doss

Adverse Action

An adverse action is defined as...

Disciplinary action includes suspensions of 14 days or less and reprimands, while adverse action includes the more severe forms of discipline such as removals, suspensions of more than 14 days, and a reduction in grade (demotion) or pay.

The user can hover the "i" icon next to the title for more information

Meeting Requested

When Meeting Requested is selected the system will automatically add a "Meeting" step into the tracking of the grievance and will then calculate and display the associated contractual timelines.

Grievance Details

Step 1 & Step 2 Grievance

Enter the specific details of the grievance in this section. Members are able to enter their own Step 1 grievance into the system for tracking. Step 2 grievances are restricted to representatives of the selected grievant's facility.

Representative

Once the grievant is selected, the system will try to auto-populate the Representative and the Recipient fields with the last used values (if present). It is possible to select a representative other than the current user so the entering of grievances into the system can be delegated to other users.

Recipient

The Recipient can be entered and edited in real-time.

Enter a New Recipient: Type the manager's first and last name, then click the name from the drop-down to select.

Select an Existing Recipient: Click the drop-down and select a manager.

Edit an Existing Recipient: Open the drop-down and click the "edit" icon. Update the name and click "Save."

Delete an Existing Recipient: Open the drop-down and click the "trash can" icon.

Date of Violation & Date Submitted

Both fields are auto-populated with today's date. Ensure the Date of Violation is correctly entered so that timelines are calculated appropriately.

Subject of Grievance

The text field is limited to 144 characters and can contain alpha-numeric characters, hyphens, and punctuation.

Alleged Contract Article Violated

The user can select multiple articles by searching and clicking on each one, adding them to the right list. You can also click the information icon to view the full text of that contract article, making it easy to copy sections into the statement of facts. You can select multiple articles at a time and remove articles by selecting the trash can.

For BUEs from different bargaining units, the contract is automatically selected based on the selected grievant. (e.g., when a 2152 Air Traffic Controller is selected as the grievant, the system automatically selects the Slate Book.)

Statement of Facts and Remedies Sought

These sections are unchanged from the previous grievance system (GATS). The two fields are free form for entering the appropriate information.

Save The Grievance

The grievance can be saved as a draft if the user has not finished entering the grievance details. When the grievance is complete and ready to be submitted, the user should double-check the Violation Date and Date of Submission dates and then click Save Changes.

The grievance will then be displayed in the My Grievances listing. Clicking on the grievance row will display the grievance summary, timelines, and options to duplicate the grievance or create a PDF using a standardized template.

Supporting Documentation

Once the grievance is saved, the user can add supporting documentation by clicking on the table row for the grievance. To upload a document, either click the "Browse" link in the Attachments section, or drag-and-drop a file into the upload section of the Attachments card.
